April 1, 2020

The Quartier is delighted to join this movement and Light It Up Blue for yet another year!

April 2nd marks the United Nations’ World Autism Awareness Day. This day opens a dedicated conversation about autism spectrum disorder that touches more than 70 million people globally.

A cause close to heart

Ensuring that people with autism can thrive in society is a cause dear to the Quartier.

Autism Awareness Month is a special time to help raise public awareness of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), to support the efforts of Autisme Montérégie, an organization that works closely with families to implement promising initiatives that promote inclusion.

Realizing the rights of persons with disabilities is a matter of justice as well as an investment in our common future.

-UN Secretary-General António Guterres

Autism is characterized by communication and sensitivity problems, making it difficult to access many services and to participate in crowded activities. Hence the importance of offering inclusive spaces and experiences that embrace this reality!

Why Blue?

Blue is a soothing colour that symbolizes the prevalence of autism in boys, who are almost five times more likely to have autism than girls.
